S16 Breathers On Throttle Bodies And Accusump

Recommended Posts

Now this has given me a headache today searching and looking at my s16 and old Mi set up. Previously I had an Mi16 engine but I'm now changing to a S16 engine using my throttle bodies I previously had but it's given me some problems in trying to work out how the breathers should go, I've found lots of pics on here however they're all using the gti6 or standard s16 inlet which makes it hard to see and also means the breathers go into the manifold.

On the old Mi I also had an accusump kit, is this worth keeping with the s16? It was also fitted into the block I'm guessing where a breather pipe would normally go. So first question is should I refit the accusump and if so should I fit it into the block in place of a breather?

Secondly the pipes that I've put in place are all going to what seem to be one way valves should these be left to go to atmosphere or should I run more of the breather filters they use.

If anyone has a s16 with itb's that could put a photo up that would be amazingly helpful.

The Accusump needs to be plumbed into the oil gallery not to a breather outlet.

Where would you advise to plump it into the oil gallery on the s16. It may very well have been into the oil gallery before it just looked like a breather outlet.

Straight into the oil gallery, above the starter motor, where the oil pressure switch goes. Use an M16 to -10 adaptor. It's the perfect place. Mine was faultless there.

Like this, but use a straight fitting. Mount the accumulator behind the LH headlight. You'll need approx. 300mm of hose feed straight into the block. Use a manual valve and leave it open all the time, except when checking the oil level.
