Saxo Brakes

Recommended Posts

dobboy

I've removed all the gear associated with Anti locking brakes on my Saxo.

Has anyone ever ran an ALB servo on normal brakes, i've changed the MC for a four port, and intent to run a single line to the back with the backs T'd fed via a bias valve.

The ALB servo is a bit bigger, and i have a non ALB servo at hand, but it looks like a bit of a task to swap them with engine in.

Anyone any idea how my pedal will feel?

Anyone care to guess how the pedal will feel?

ABS servo used on non-abs car/brakes?

Thanks WP, you mean the bore for the MC?

If so then it's the same. Do you mean it won't be any different to the car with ABS, or having a car without ABS (not that i'd be able to tell the difference anyway tbh).

I thought the ABS servo was bigger because more effort is required to push the fluid through the ABS pump/gubbins, and therefore if the ABS gubbins were removed the pedal may feel soft but the effect of the big servo would be greater..... i.e. soft pedal but brakes more severe.

Whereas I would rather have a slightly firm pedal.

Another thing you'll probably know the answer to, would my 1.9 front calipers fit the saxo?

(I would probably also upgrade the MC to 23mm if they did?)

you are over thinking things!

1.9 brakes will fit, its the same disc, can't see why you would, pads are smaller, calipers heavier, piston is not much different so you wont need the 23mm mc.

Ah.... I thought the 1.9 discs were 266mm, but yeah the same at 247mm.

Thanks WP.
