Amazing to think just a few years ago you could buy one of those engines for that and get the rest of the car thrown in for free!

For that kind of cash I'd want a bit more than 300 bhp...

Yes, I know a chap that bought one from France about 10-15 years ago, it cost him in the region of 25k. Sounds ridiculous I know but that I think was the going rate back then.

if its a 300 bhp engine then I'd imagine its for an EVO 1 rally variant not a road engine.

They were bloody cheap a few years ago as Rob says but Group B values have gone crazy in the last 2-3 years.

My heart sank when I saw that. I wanted to find one of these several years ago but there were none about at the time...which I'd persevered!

Scrapyards are very organised in France, parts removed from vehicles and shelved/categorised, unlike the ones I have seen in UK where cars are just stacked and you have to climb on top of them to get what you want.

But they are also annoying as they don't let you go and get your own bits!

Isn't that half the fun, clambering up stacked cars!!

and finding that elusive clip/piece of trim/bit of wiring that theyll never remove in one piece and keep on the shelf!
