Aftermarket Seats

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

My driver seat is pretty useless and falling apart. The passenger seat is still good so I was thinking of swapping them over but I think it may be better just to fit an aftermarket drivers side seat. I'm using the car daily for commuting and a 100 mile run twice a week so looking for recommendations for an easy in / out comfortable seat with good bolster support. I'm not after bucket seats but something to hold you in place when cornering and ideally not any heavier than the oem driver seat.

Thanks

Jas

I bought a passenger seat in good condition and swapped all the bolsters and covers on to my knackered drivers seat.

You can't just swap the seats over as the the mechanisms are handed.

You can if you swap the subframes over, although the tilt adjust knob will be on the "wrong" side.

Depends how fussy you are I suppose - I've used several passenger seats in place of drivers over the years without issue.

I've pretty much decided to keep the passenger seat as I'd prefer for it not to get the level of ware of a daily as its in good nick. So looking for recommendations for decent aftermarket seats.

Depends what you mean by 'decent'. Are you after a bucket seat or still a comfortable road going seat with side support? I've fitted xm leather seats, and also used some cobra daytona recliners which were nice. Seats from 405, 306 and 309 fit with some simple brackets making. I know people have also fitted bmw seats and recaros from the Rover 220 turbo.

I'm after a seat that is comfy for long journeys, easy to get in and out off and will also hold / keep in you place during spirited driving. So more of a sports seats instead of a full on bucket seat.
