Fuel Vapour 'electro Valve' Re Cycling Thingy

Recommended Posts

mhyphenl

Hi all,

After ripping out and refurbing my 8V I've decided to tackle some wiring / ECU issues before the engine goes back in. First was replacing the connections for the Lambda which I'm glad I did as the connections were pushing in when pushed together! Second is to possibly replace the valve that opens to pull the vapors from the tank. Peugeot call it 1628 F0 'electro valve' and it's nfp (not surprising!) but I don't seem to be able to find any kind of replacement or I'm not looking for the right thing. I suspect the one I have is always open as I can suck through it when not connected!?

What are they called in real english? Can they still be got? Has anyone got a known working one they might wish to sell me??

I'll have it, how do you want your funds? I could do with sorting this for Friday If that's ok. PM me with what you want and I'll reply with my work address.

What are they called in real english?

You'll often find it referred to as a charcoal/carbon canister valve or similar.

all sorted, thanks for that! Nice to have a proper Peugeot one to fit!

However, just realised I've put my pistons in the wrong way round, see my other topic....damn fool!!

I've come to fit this and I'm now not confident the old one was the right way round. Does anyone know which way round they should be? Currently got the thicker tube going from the valve to the throttle body!

I have dug out this old photo from when I had the head off mine and it shows the filter connection on the same side as the electrical plug.

What symptoms were you seeing when the valve was knackered?

Not sure if this helps. This pic is looking from the front towards the gearbox

It doesn't matter, a valve open and closes

Hi, Sorry for the late reaction! I think it does matter, you can blow through it in only one direction when it's off the car which would suggest that, as the flow is from the carbon canister to the throttle body, it is this direction that should be restricted until the valve opens. I'm pretty sure the above photos are right. The problem on my old one was that you could blow through it in both directions when off the car. It's been off the car for so long I'd forgotten which way round it was but looking at the pipes, the thicker diameter goes from the throttle body to the valve and the thinner from the valve to the canister.

Thanks for all your help!
