Tu Gearboxes

Looks like my gearbox on the 306 1.4 has had it (stripped teeth in oil) and I need a replacement. Can anyone tell me if the TU box off the PSA cars will fit on?

For some reason, the 206 boxes seem to go cheaper than the 106/Saxo/306 units but I need to know if it'll fit. I'm sure I read on here that the iron block boxes won't fit the alloy, and vice-versa. Obviously, I'll swap over the mounts etc. I just want the cheaper option.

There are loads of MA box fitments, Alloy, Iron Block, Hydraulic Clutch, Cable Clutch, Linkage type, Rover variants inc new Mini

Internal's all the same, Just repaired one on a 206 I was given written off by a local garage, £6.69 to replace a bearing and good to go again, Mind I would say any MA box around the 100k mark would need a bearing set on it

Its a pretty s*ity job to change the bearings or gears if you dont have a press, but you could just buy another gearbox if it isnt the same you could fit the gearset into your casing,

Whilst I have all the tools to rebuild a gearbox, I couldn't justify spending £100 or so on the rebuild kit. Ended up getting a 206 KFW 1.4 box with similar ratios for little money from a genuine 38k car. Oil was clean and no slop. Linkages are the same too.

Just got to get my Regs exam out of the way and I'll fit it.

if you have stripped teeth it will be more than £100 to rebuild!

i had bought a new 1st gear for a 106 gti box once it cost me about £120 for the gear on its own plus the bearing kit.

ive purchased gearboxes before and swapped gears about, ive still got a few MA gearsets in my tool box if you need something i could see what i have

Thanks for the offer, but I'm hoping this 206 box will see me over. It's only 3rd which is different and even then it's only slightly. The 306 1.4 is a pile of crap anyway, so not worth chucking hundreds at.
