Kent Cam Pulley Issue

Catching the inner part of the cover.

Had to drive the cti 20 miles to its new home. Thought I would have had more time to fit it but it turns out I only had one day to pack up and move. The grinding noise got a little quieter by the time I arrived at our new home due to the outer od of the pulley mating face wearing away. I'm wanting to keep the cover original do you guys remove the cover (8 valve xu) or is it common to make the hole in the back plate bigger, or is it by chance I just need to adjust it. Not had much time lately to look at it... moving n all.
