Rotrex Gti6 Exhaust.

Recommended Posts

boldy205

Hi just after some pointers regarding a custom exhaust. I've go a low boost Rotrex GTI6 in my 205, i'm going to get a custom exhaust made for it, downpipe back. Looking at sizes, people seem to run 2.5" . Anyone on here have and experience/advise ?

Thanks

Matt

It'll be loud so big boxes! I know spiky had trouble keeping his quiet and ended up with a big chambered affair from memory.

Think that might be a problem, as it will need to be under 100dB's for track days. will have a look through his build for some info.

Good to see a pic thanks Stef. I presume that's 2.5" pipe? How much power does the engine make?

Thanks

Do they really go a lot louder when charged? I.e my system tests around 92db now so with the charger added would it be likely to go above 100 and cause track issues

I'm not totally sure about the static tests, but drive by can be quite a bit higher from what I have read?

yeah thats my worry as i had my 2.5" system done with the charger in mind and went for the biggest boxes he could fit in. I do have one last option of a huge box under the boot floor and then have the exhaust exit the other side but hoping it wont need to go that far

Supercharged are as loud as they get in my experience, you are creating far more exhaust flow than a NA engine, but you haven't got a turbocharger in the way to take any of the energy out of the exhaust gas stream. No point mithering about it, its a case of try it and see.

yup, I think even with a low boost setup there's at least 50% more air going in, so 50% more fuel and 50% bigger bang, theoretically 50% more noise.

Mine was at 86db before supercharging, that's with 2 boxes and 2.5". I haven't measured it properly since but it isn't significantly louder, less than 100db almost certainly. A good sized centre box is needed though

I was thinking of the idea of a larger rear silencer under the boot floor as there is a fair bit of space with spare wheel removed. Well I think a 2.5" is needed for the flow of gasses. So then just massive boxes!
