Vts Clutch Query

Recommended Posts

Clapton_Is_God

Hello All,

I've just installed the clutch in my VTS gearbox and I can't get the clutch fork/release lever to operate. It has a small amount of movement (not enough to operate the clutch) and I find it hard to believe that is correct. Should I be able to operate the fork lever by hand?

I stuck with the original pull type clutch, as far as I'm aware everything is fitted and torqued correctly. Is there something blatantly obvious that I've missed or should it really be that hard to operate by hand?

Many thanks for any help.

Put the cable on and then try. It is too heavy to release the clutch by hand. You can do it with a decent length lever bar.

Which clutch cable are you using? I've found that BE1 cables work fine (the common type!), BE3 cables (likewise!) require a spacer on the cable.

It will be rather difficult to operate the clutch arm by hand but as Tom says a decent length bar should do it, but i'd rather just connect up the cable.

The engines not in the car yet so I can't operate the cable. I just thought there was something fundamentally wrong and didn't want to fit without it being correct.

Thanks for help :-)
