Repair / Replace Split Air Inlet Hoses?

Recommended Posts

mmatthej1

The air inlet hoses on our 205GTI, with their moulded-in corrugations, seem prone to splitting as they get into old age and I just wonder what other people do, in order to overcome this problem?

We have already replaced one set of 'old, split' hoses with second hand items, only to see the same splits happen again, after a time in use.

Can 'new' replacements be sourced these days? Or is there a good way to repair the splitting?

(I've tried Uhu glue just now - seems to work ok - have also used underseal in the past, again a fair short-term fix - both intended to allow for some 'flex' in use)
