how would people go about discovering the value of a private plate?

just phone or email the many reg transfer company's who deal in private plates

If it is something like R12 FBG then they are not worth that much as you can still pick them up fromn DVLA for £250 including the £80 assignment fee, so I would say about £100 as they need to make their cut on the top. Usually they just advertise them on your behalf as opposed to buying them

its hard to value a plate as people always say when a car they are selling that it has a ''plate worth £500'' ect but you can put your plate up for sale but if it sits on the site for 3 years and doesnt sell then its obviously not worth that
