Mi16 Sump Baffle + Spacer Questions

Hi guys,

 

I had a leak from the alloy sump on my mi16 engine, a few drips if left overnight.

 

I have removed the sump & spacer and discovered a few interesting mods (and lots of sealant), there appears to be a baffle plate installed although it is only a welded plate on the sump with no trap door arrangement. Personally im not convinced this is adequate. Am I better off replacing the sump and adding a pts style baffle?

 

The second issue I have noticed is someone appears to have ground a groove all the way around the top face of the spacer (see photo). Does anyone know what the reason for this might be? And would i have a better chance sealing it if I didnt have this groove effort?

 

Any help with this would be much appreciated

Can't say I like any of that! I'd like to put it all back to standard, maybe adding a PTS baffle if used on anger

You could do it that way but it's not how a professional would do it.

I have now obtained a Gti6 oil pump inc pump baffle & chain cover, a replacement mi16 spacer & sump combo & also a Constella XU9J4 sump baffle. They should keep me busy for a while.

 

Sump baffle arrived this morning, looks like a well made bit of kit.

 

I am keeping the 22T sprocket after reading a few posts from Peter regarding premature wear of the 26T.
