Rear Beam Stub Pins - What Brand To Buy?

Recommended Posts

idoari

Hi,

i planning to rebuild my beam in my 205 GTI. i have the genuine bearing and seals and i need also the stub pins.

the genuine stub pins are NFP and i found some in "spoox" but they cost more than the replacment options.

the question is :

do i really need the genuine one or the replacment (from spoox and BBM) that some of them claim to be better then the original (more robust etc..) will be better?

thanks

Ido

Are you getting mixed up? The "stub axle" is the part that the wheel bearing runs on at the wheel end. These rarely need to be replaced, only due to being bent from a big impact.

The trailing arm shaft is the part that the trailing arm swings on and is inserted inside the main beam cross tube. These can be bought from LOTS of places these days, if you look on ebay you will see plentry to choose from.

i know that i can get them from a lot of places but how is the replacment part compare to the genuine?

Go polish! Cant remember the name but a Polish company do a kit on Ebay, seems cheap, a fair few of people on here including myself have bought them. They include the bearings and tubes, but sure they just do tubes.

Febi seem decent quality. But so do the other ones available, to me they are cheap enough that if you change them again in 5 years then no problem.

I was about to say, £11.45 is absurdly cheap!

I've just bought a set of the Polish shafts and bearing kits for a beam I need to do, figuring that it was worth a shot at that price especially as others seem to have used them successfully (even if it's too early to know about longevity)

I have used Frauto.pl and motomaniacsworld for both shafts and bearings and have no complaint at all . the shafts are well wrapped and boxed but are not a make I can recall , the quality looked fine only a hardness test would tell more . The bearings have been SNR and if you examine the needle races they are stamped with France or Germany and are the better 'high number of needle' type . when one shaft is costing £95 from Peugeot its an easy choice to make .

i figure out i'm not going to open up my rear beam again in the near future (i hope) so i tried to bought the best quality parts that i can in the best price - and i think i've did that.

i just got two febi wishbones for both sides and the quality seems SUPERB !!
