All Electric 205

Recommended Posts

Just saw a picture of a 205 instrument panel which I had never seen before, it looked like an electric vehicle panel, a quick Google brought this up http://www.carscoops.com/2013/03/all-electric-peugeot-205-was-ahead-of.html?m=1 I was totally unaware these ever existed. But working for a renault dealers seeing the Zoe's come in (mainly on a recovery truck) it makes me think how advanced would they be if they could have developed these cars since the early 90's.

Id love to see one now with modern systems, loads of batteries low down in the back and a powerful motor at the front(or even mid engined front batteried), would be amazing to drive if you got the ballance right. Torque on tap

shame it would be rubbish round corners with all those batteries.

I'd rather have a small engine and a flybrid system

Not really, the Nissan gtr is heavy but with the weight evenly distributed and balanced properly it would handle well

Electric car! I can't get my breath! Wash out your mouth with soap!!!!

The guy over the road has one of those stupid Vauxhall electric things. I counter him by having a 3.2 TD Shogun and a 535d BMW.

I thought the electric 205 was a test mule for the electric 106/AX/Saxo/C15/Berlingo that followed, i don't think it was ever put into production beyond that.

Still impressive for the era though.

Horses for courses though.

I never would have thought I would be interested in electric cars. As a matter or principle, I still believe the Prius to be the devils work. But, if you can just get your head around it being a whole different experience rather than believing or assuming it's going to be a BAD experience, then I think electric cars still have something to offer.

After reading a PH article on the original Honda Insight, and then delving in to some of the aftermarket stuff that is improving the range even further, I actually quite like the idea of one of those as a commuter car. And I've got to admit that I quite like the original Tesla Roadster. I also like the concept of having whacking great huge amounts of torque available most of the time.

People like us just generally don't like electric cars cos they go against everything that is generally accepted as the required ingredients for a fun/sporty car. We're dinosaurs :D

Id like to think they would never replace internal combustion but as a town car they would be OK, the renault zoe is a very nice thing to drive, performance is actually surprisingly good.

I had seen camerons change of plan to go electric, project seems to have stalled now though.

I would love a go in a tesla, the torque delivery must be brutal.

I'd be happy with a hybrid for a daily if it used a flybrid type system rather than batteries.

Technology needs to take a leap before the combustion engine dies out..

Regardless of their performance or efficiency....they make no nice noises.

yeah you could maybe run a 1.0 on throttlebodies to make the nice noise then get the power from the additional batteries lol

With all of that power available I think the heater blower would have some serious puff behind it.

we have had an electric b-class in at work, thought it was pretty quick, although underneath everything is plasted with TESLA stickers

Only thing is they are £38k or something like that and the range isn't great.

and being fully electric you need to get a 3 phase point installed in your front garden or it will take agesssss to charge from a 3 pin

It is a very strange thing to drive, I actually quite like it though, if it was quicker to charge or had a very long range like 300 miles then they would make an ideal car for running around. Someone that works for us used one for a while to do his 30 mile trip to work, he would go home and back, put it on charge through the day every couple of days, was free motoring.
