Xs Driveshafts (Both Sides)

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Can someone recommend where I can get a pair of driveshafts for my XS? Just phoned Peugeot and they are telling me they are no longer available.

Cheers!

I managed to get a pair of GKN shafts just recently, guy I bought them from had them a while.

I made some phone calls to local independent motor factors and could find other XS shafts, but they were poor quality ones. They are about, just don't seem to last as long.

Thanks. Any idea where I can get hold of GKNs? I've found a few cheap one around but it's for a rally car so they need to last.

Cheers!

Just phoned a different Peugeot dealership and they're saying they are available from France @ £158.08+VAT each. Seems a little steep to me.....

doesn't sound too bad to me for genuine parts, one side is 150 and the other 77, that's as exchange shafts though they rarely ask for the old units back.

I was just surprised they were saying that BOTH driveshafts are the same price at £158? Where did you get the 77 figure from? Cheers.

I have a pair of used (and tatty) ones from my GTX, which might be compatible? They'll need cleaning up and re-booting, but they're cheap, like the budgie!

I'm not sure whether this is helpful to you or not, but they're yours if you want them. See my breaking thread for details.

Cheers,

Mike

As its a rally car if you can get genuine shafts then buy them. £300 is not a lot of money compared to entry fees if you have a DNF due to a broken shaft. Rallyings an expensive hobby!

I don't mind paying it. I agree completely, I just find it odd that I've been quoted the same price for both sides. I would expect them to be different prices. I don't want to wait for them to come from France and end up with two long driveshafts :/ the guy from parts even admitted that he "didn't know much about 205s" but I guess he's pulling it all from service box. Strange. I'll just have to order them and keep my fingers crossed! :) cheers!

SkyQuake. Thanks for the offer. I actually already have a spare used set but want to keep them as spares and fit new ones to the car because the current ones are shot.

If in doubt send me the part numbers and will tell you if UK dealers hold and you can call them

No worries, most welcome. Refurbing them is a mucky horrible job anyway!
