Oil Pressure Gauge Sender Alternatives

Recommended Posts

randomspeedfreak

Ive just found and installed a second hand oil pressure gauge sender - new ones are no longer available i think

Of course as its second hand its not working properly and gives erratic readings...so ive been looking for an equivalent alternative.

Does anyone know the range of the sender or gauge so at, say 8 or 10 bar (or whatever the maximum is on the gauge), what ohms does the sender give? and minimum i take it would be 0 ohm?

there must be an equivalent alternative somewhere!

Cheers,

Matt

Erratic readings sounds more like a wiring issue rather than the sender, try grounding the wire to the sender and go for a drive, the gauge should stay on max, if it moves the wiring is faulty.

Intermotor also do them, the condition of your wiring specifically the brown multiplug will also play it's part in giving erratic readings. I've just bought a racetech gauge for oil and water, as even with a new sender it's still guess work.
