Blue Paint Code 'm(3)My' - Is There A Colour Name?

Recommended Posts

My Blue 1.6 auto carries paint code, as shown in piccies - I think the second number is '3' but cannot be sure.

Can anyone tell me if this colour has a 'name' & whether it is available in an aerosol from Peugeot or anywhere else, please?

Sure it's not M0MY? That's the code for Miami Blue and looks like the correct colour.

Hum - that could be right, I guess, but we have a Miami Blue GTI and that colour is somewhat 'lighter', when cars are side by side............

(I would add a foto to show this but don't know how! I can add a foto to a NEW posting ok but don't see how to do it, half-way into a posting)

How old is the Miami GTI? The 1990 limited edition models were a different shade of Miami to the later regular cars - the earlier shade is noticably lighter and slightly washed out looking compared to the darker and deeper later colour... yet confusingly both have the same colour name and code!

GTI is J-reg, Auto is N-reg.

Should both be MOMY then, and should be the later darker shade. Halfords do, or did, the Miami blue or MOMY I rattle cans, however I always found it a bit light for my J plate, so this makes me think the shade Halfords supply is the lighter earlier one.

I had mine looked over by a body guy yesterday about having the bonnet resprayed, turned out going to be more than that though, any ways my point is the wings would need doing in order to blend it in, being nearly 25 year old the colour will not be the same as the day it left the show room mine has the mom paint code but saying that it also often looks a different shade from others iv seen

According to a couple of posts by Paintguy here...

...there are loads of variations of Miami Blue besides the major shade change post 1990. Also the only part of the paint code that means anything are the last two characters, in this case MY.

The colour can also vary greatly depending on the base primer its applied over too, the lighter blues most likely painted over a very light almost white primer, the later ones over a much stronger grey.

Good stuff on this, thanks!

I have a section that needs touch-up so think I will try an exisisting can of Peugeot Miami Blue that I have for this - sounds like I can't be too far wrong, especially as it's in a non-obvious place!

Mine is painted over a very white primer to the extent I thought it was a white shell resprayed blue
