Central Locking Control Unit

Recommended Posts

Supersport2

My phase 1.5 has a four plug socket for the central locking control unit, but the only units I have seen have around eight sockets! I don't remember having one, even though I have all the lock motors!

Will my central

Locking work without a control unit? It doesn't have a remote or sensor.

On a Phase 1/1.5 (or indeed any model without remote central locking) the drivers side locking motor is the control unit as such. It's the later Phase 2 cars (with RCL) that had a separate locking module under the dash.

Without the drivers side locking motor, you won't have any central locking functionality.

Phase 1/1.5 drivers side central locking motors are grey in colour and 4 pin, whereas Phase 2's are black in colour and 5 pin. The two are not interchangeable.

Mint. Thank you.

I take it the plug just plugs into the rear of the dash, like the earth points,

On an early car there's nothing behind the dash for it to plug into.

From memory, there's just the door and boot motors themselves, a connection on the fuseboard for power and an earth on the side of the steering column support.

The later cars with RCL had the locking module next to the steering column on a small black plate.
