It Was Fun While It Lasted.

Hey guys,

Some of you may know that I haven't had the best of luck with 205s. Well it seems my luck has ran out completely.

I'd just had new driveshafts, lower arms, track rod ends fitted and the old girl flew through the MOT.

Next day I was sitting at a red light and was hit by a skip wagon from behind.

It's a cat d write off, it's definitely fixable but that's it for me, I want to move on.

Insurance nonsense is still ensuing but the plan is to buy it back and I'll sell it as it is.

I'm sure someone will want it for the parts alone.

Are the quarter panels and roof straight? If so you might have been very lucky and will be fixable.

Yeah quarters are fine and so is roof.

I'm gonna use it as an excuse to move on and try something else though...

Shame, i'd get it fixed personally, a new boot and trim and some work to the rear light panels/quarter which any decent body shop could do and it will be good as new.

I feel for you.....the exact same thing happened to my old 205 just over a year ago, and it was days after I'd forked out £500 on loads of work done to it!

....but I got a decent settlement and bought another 205!

It's a shame your leaving the fold due to some careless git!

At those very traffic lights.

Morley waste traders truck that did it!

I was always worried about my car in London, first 5 mins of being back in Leeds and that happens!

That's a guttter, what you thinking about next? Only thing your going to get as much fun from is a fast ford or something rwd. I'd love a mk1,2 or 3 escort but they're not cheap

I don't want to say in fear of ridicule!

Not quite a 205 Gti though

Bugger, sorry to see that looked a tidy car. Definitely repairable though, and if it helps I will be scrapping a damaged shell in the next couple of months that could donate the rear boot shut panels to repair yours.

Hopefully someone gets that back on the road again, looks far too clean to be binned - I'd be as pissed off as you if that was my GTi :/

That looks very fixable. Make sure it goes to an enthusiast (i.e someone on here) with the promise that it gets fixed.

That's a bummer but looks like the damage isn't too bad tbh, hopefully whoever buys it will repair it rather then break it.

I don't want to say in fear of ridicule!

Not quite a 205 Gti though

MX5? If so you will love it, if not then you should! My other half got one earlier this year (mk2 1.8) and it's fab to drive, I choose to drive it over the 205, especially in good weather.

To keep you updated, the insurance have agreed that I can buy back the car. The only problem is they want 30% of the offered price. I always thought it was meant to be 10%?

I questioned it on the phone and they said it was because it was an old car! They feeding me a load of rubbish? Should I question it?

Thanks?

Paid £400 to get mine back.

Insured for 4k which I got as it was an agreed value policy.

Mind you it was 6 years ago and these old tins are going up in value.

I got paid out £2600 for my car around a year ago and they wanted me to pay £400 to buy it back, which I also thought was a little much so I declined it in the end cos they wouldn't budge.

Latest update, I've bought the car off them.

Will be for sale up here as soon as I get some decent pics taken.

Hopefully whoever buys it repairs it rather than scrapping for parts! I'd be tempted myself if I had the space :(
