Which Temp Sensor?

Recommended Posts

oldkiteman

I am just trying to sort electrics on my conversion. The engine i am fitting is a phase 2 VTS,with a single temp sensor.I have bought a new green sensor which mates with green plug in the loom, but my supplier says that there is a choice for blue sensor for the temp gauge.I have 2 blue sensors, one with a grey band and the other with a black one.Does anyone know which one is correct?the 205 is K reg.Yours Rob

Dizzee stuff

What wiring loom are you using? There should be three temp sensors , ECU,Temp gauge & stop light.

Not on the VTS loom Dizzee, one is blanked off on the Tstat housing...... Coresponds to the Maroon one on GTI6 loom iirc

For the temp/injection/ECU you need a green one with a yellow plastic ring.

Dash gauge may be blue, but if you want it to read correctly fit an 8v sender

the housing has got 3 holes, the lower one is a smaller hole with a coarse thread and the upper ones are larger, fine threaded ones. The green management sensor is a small coarse thread and the blue gauge sensors are big, fine threaded ones.Which of the 8v sensors is for the temp gauge?Rob

With mines i'm sure i've used both 8v coolent sensors (single wire) and the 16v green sensor, bell out the loom etc and wire and connect accordingly,

Iirc the short 8v sensor is for the coolant guage, and longer for coolant light but i'm not 100% sure.
