Upgrading My Alternator

Recommended Posts

erbs

standard alternator on there at the mo and drops the revs quite a lot when the lights are on as i'm running Osram nightbreakers

would using this alternator be ok? will it stress the electrics?

says output 110 amps is that too much?

I wouldn't get a cheap, unbranded one.

Also, Osram Nightbreakers shouldn't cause a drop over normal halogens...if they are then something is amiss.

S16 ones fit, they are 90amp, Other Derv models fit but you'll have to check as a mate fitted a 100 ish Amp one of a 807

i tested my alternator today when everything is off it charges at 14 v

when i put lights on at full beam and the heater on and any thing else its drops to 12 volts,it has a brand new battery and the engine struggles to tickover

any reason for this?

I also got an RTX from Euro Car Parts 2 years ago and it has also been fine. (hasn't even tarnished and still looks like new). Can't remember the ampage but I certainly wouldn't have got lower amps than standard.

Oh and you need to buzz the pulley off the old one with an impact gun iirc.
