Door Cubby Hole/ Storage Thing Issue

Recommended Posts

timoth123

So the storage hole thing that holds the elc window switches won't stay attached to the door at multiple points. The self tap screws just pull out due to the holes being too big and not giving enough grip. I can't get bigger screws due to their heads not fitting into the plastic channel made for them.

Anyone any ideas on securely fixing? I was thinking of ising some sort of wall plug or plastic insert.

Yes - use rivnuts. These will make it ultra secure. Well as secure as you can get with 80's french plastic and 1mm sheet steel.

I used M5 rivnuts and they are brilliant. You then just need some panhead M5 machine screws.

You will need a ruvnut tool -there are some good and relatively cheap ones available. Will look up later for you..

Dizzee stuff

Plenty of plastic inserts on ebay, not sure I would use rivnuts bit of a over kill. With water going down the door corrosion could also be a problem
