Throttle Body Breather Hoses

Recommended Posts

Hi gents.

I am in the final stages of reassembling my Goodwood after an 18 month nut and bolt restoration.

Ejhen I got thecar the engine was in 100 pieces so I have no real idea where the pipes etc go - thankfully, I have copied my CTI but have 1 pipe that is baffling me.

My throttle body has 3 pipe fixings on the underside and I have copied 2 of them from the CTI but this only has 2 on the throtle body not 3.

1 goes to the top of the coolant reservoir and the other to the small fixing on the thermostat.

Any idea where the 3rd one goes to/from please or should I blank it off?

I have 1 spare pipe too, 10mm bore approc that is about 20 cm long with bends either end so I guess this may be the pipe I need.

Thanks in advance.

Two of the three small pipes are linked inside, there have the coolant small pipes linked. The third one is spare unused.

Thanks Tom - so no need to blank it off then?

Any idea which one is unused too please? At the moment the one on the RHS is not connected.

The one that doesn't go anywhere! The other two are linked if you blow through them. Can't remember off hand which ones are which but easy to work it out.

The 2 right next to each other in a V are linked , the hot water flows through to stop the throttle body icing up in cold weather , If you blow through one it will come out of the other . The smaller one nearer to the inlet manifold is not used ( and not drilled through ) , I have sawed it off and filed it flat on the T/B's I have refurbed .

That's half an ounce saved - Colin Chapman would be proud

I always bypass the TB with the water pipes, waste of time in the UK and makes any maintenance easier and less leaks due to less hoses

There are two types of throttle body too.

The top one has the solinoid for an aircon setup
