A Different Rear Beam Question

Recommended Posts

claypole1360

Evening,

my Xs has a seized rear beam, I know of a nearby company that does/stocks rebuilt beams, however, is the rear beam on the xs an uprated item or standard compared to lesser models?

Also, if I fitted a gti beam, how would it differ and would I need to make any other changes to my car?

Thanks, Calvin.

The XS beam has base sized torsion bars with a small 16 mm anti roll bar. It's kind on an intermediate spec beam as the most basic of base models have no rear anti roll bar at all.

The GTI spec beam is a good upgrade really, will bolt straight on if it has 1.6 GTI stub axles and you re use your existing brakes and backplates.

Thanks Tom, will that not change the ride height at the back though?

Yes, even at standard GTI setting it will probably show a drop in rear ride heoght compared to the standard XS beam.

It can be easily set to the same though.
