Decent Road Tyres?

Recommended Posts

It's got A048s on but the ride is f***ing awful and they're ready for changing. 888s would be better but they're too dear

are you using 14" too allan?

if not, try thr AD08R, much cheaper than r888 and my mate AdamB ratea them much higher for consistency, stiffer sidewalls but not as much as ao48, seem to be lasting very well so far with the track and sprint use pluus road miles hes giving them.

Hey there :)

I've just bought a set of 6x14 mak spirit alloys for my roland garros, but I can't decide what tyres to buy. If I want something good, I can choose between the Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 or Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance. Many reviews say though that the goodyears have soft sidewalls, which kill the steering, on the other hand people dont really say anything about the continentals, just that they are good. Which one would be the better choice? Toyos, and the rest of the semi-slicks cost a fortune, so I cant really afford those.

I had Michelin Pilot Sport 3s on my 330 BMW and they were fantastic so i've booked in for a full set on the 205 on Saturday. At the moment i've got Toyo Proxes on the front which seem to be useless in the wet, and 2 different cheap brands on the back which allow me to almost drift the 205 in the merest of damp condition!

Goodyear efficient performance. They are g

Fantastic in this weather are currebtly having. Total confidence in the car and what it's going to do. No under steer and it takes a lot to get them to lock. By that time it's on its nose anyway. Can't fault them.

I've a set of Goodyear excellence on one of mine, initially I got them for my old STDT so they aren't the most recent version.

Sidewalls are soft compared to some but they coped fine with the Lakes tour a few years ago and gave plenty of information on grip & steering feel.

We are discussing the Efficient Grip Performance, I don't think you can buy the Excellence any more.

Yeah, I know.

Just giving my opinion on a similar spec of goodyear tyre, didn't the excellence evolve into the efficient grip?

Update: my Falken ZE914s have done 2 road targa rallies, and about 1000 road miles and they're nearly done! They gripped really well but the downside is that lots of grip on special tests on targa rallies = quick to wear.
