Does Mi16 Need A Canister Purge Solenoid?

Recommended Posts

Problems of buying a project!

I've found a couple more wires roaming free in the engine bay, which relate a feed to and return from a canister purge solenoid! Do I need this?

Only if your fuel tank needs it. Do you have a charcoal canister in the LH wheel arch?

Further, if you have an ECU from a car that had one, you need to fit a 1.2kohm resistor in place of the solenoid (M346), otherwise the ECU will fault.

There wasn't anything in the wheel arch at all. Do I literally solder one in?

How do I find out if my ecu had this fitted?

If it doesn't, can I leave the wires as they are? Free and hanging!?

Struggling a bit.

Look for a two pin connector with wires 20R and 84.

Is wire 84 in pin 5 of the ECU connector?

Do some looking.

This is all I have!

Wires have been cut prior to me owning it. The engine ran, but I can not recall if there were any warning lights.
