Tigerseal Numberplate On Front Bumper

Recommended Posts

Can I tigerseal on the front numberplate to the bumper?

I did a real bodge job ages ago changing the numberplate the holes do not line up quite right and it has never sat completely flat... today it fell off going through a car wash (one of the screws had rusted) so was thinking I could just line it up properly and tigerseal it on?

Is there any prep work / after considerations ?

Assuming S figures are the best plan when applying glue to the plate?

You could Tigerseal it on...

...if bodging up a 24 year old classic car that's appreciating in value is you kinda thing.

I would just buy a new number plate and drill the holes in the correct places.

Yes same here, saves drilling holes in the bumper. Just clean the bumper off thoroughly with brake cleaner etc to make sure it's clean and oil/ grease free so the tape sticks properly.

Will normal numberplate tape be enough? Would you need to cut the plate to fit the recess to ensure a good fit with the tape? Mine keeps falling off.

If you do it in one long strip it peels itself off. If you do it in lots of small squares it doesn't.

I have some 3m double sided tape i used to try and stick the mirror trim back on.... cleaned it all with meth spirits , dried & applied.... all fine didn't go near it ..... then 2 days later the trim comes off again

VHB - ok well shame the last roll i wasn't or was it? ! maybe the length of strips I used were wrong then ( long )
