Cross Country Spares Kit - Whats In Yours?

Recommended Posts

Stu

Hi all,

I'll be embarking on a few road trips over the next few months and am starting to put together a kit of spares, tools etc.

Started the engine side of things today with sensors:

Anything I've missed? GTI6 engine obviously...

So what's in yours? What tools do you take?

Do you really need 4 of everything? You'd have to be seriously unlucky for all 4 injectors to go down on a single journey.

I agree with above. Who has ever had a working injector pack up? Certainly I have not. Plugs fair dos, 1 or maybe 2 coil packs fair dos.

I guess it depends where are you going, how far off the beaten track?

Crank sensor, Knock sensor makes little difference if it goes wrong, I;d take 1 coil pack and a CPS along with a hose or 2

get some fuses in there and also some ductape and maybe some leakfix stuff ( the putty kind) .But as above depends on how far your going etc .But most of all get some breakdown cover I have done the above for years carrying tools etc just incase and tbf they have served my well especially with my current car (clio 172) but im at the point now where ill just pay the AA 9quid a month and they can come out and sort it out for me .

If you're going over to Europe, RHD specific clutch cable is a good call.

It's not something I bother with in the UK as you can get one next day from most motorfactors no worries, but in mainland Europe that's likely to be the sort of thing that'll ruin your day and that, at best, you'll only manage to source special order from a Peugeot dealer.
