Something Missing From Oil Filler?

Recommended Posts

Hey gents,

My GTi seems to have an air blow coming from the oil filler 'pillar' which I've located to the side where it looks like something has broken off? Can anyone advise what's meant to be there, if anything?

Should be a part the same (slightly different size) to the opposite side of the cap the sticks out and it should have a hose fitted to it. You'll need a new cap.

with a breather pipe attached!

I'm surprised the engine isn't playing up somewhat to be honest- My cap was cracked at the union in the same place- sucking in cold air- messing with the idle and making the oil go milky.

Yeah it's not running very well at all to be honest, where does the breather go? Also, is it something that can still be bought or like most breathers NLA? I see the oil filler neck can still be bought

Main filler cap = NFP

Halfords used to have them

Breather pipe is NLA also, ask Baker

It attached to the top of the throttle housing- so its only a short bit of hose

I imagine any standard hose of the correct diameter would do fine.

The hose missing looks like the one running to the induction pipe before the throttle body.

As for using standard hose...will need to be heat and oil resistant.

This could possibly explain why my engine has been giving me problems recently... I'll see if I can source the pipe from Bakers, has anyone got a picture of the item in question please?

smaller hose goes from filler cap to the throttle body, bigger Z shaped hose goes from the filler cap to the throttle body to afm ducting.

with regard to the hose- really I meant go to Peugeot or really any car place and get them to supply a similar one- they have supplied lengths of hose to me in the past without an issue

Thanks guys, I can't think what happened to it, the car was running pretty well up to the point where I had my rocker cover, alternator, and engine mounts changed so I don't know if it got broken whilst up the garage :/

Probably that's what happened, I try not to let garages near mine except for MOT time. Then I watch them like a hawk!
