Gti6 Cambelt Question.

Depends what timing belt kit you get.

The kit i got came with an auto tensioner thingwybob instead of the eccentric tensioner thingwybob.

Iirc my kit was a Gates one with water pump and iirc my belt has one extra tooth at 137, instead of 136

I personally don't bother with the Gauge, 1/4 turn on the long run does the trick.

This is for the later engine I think? Mine is a earlier manualy adjustable belt.

I heave heard people fitting the 136 tooth kit to later engines for some reason? To do away with the auto adjuster I guess?

This, I have done loads of timing belts over the years without a tension measuring tool, never (touch wood) had any issues.

Appreciate the comments, looks like Peugeot tried making things hard for people!

I second what Tom wrote: I also have empirical prove that the "twist-the belt-with-two-fingers" approach never resulted in a failed or jumped timing belt.
