Strut Brace Wont Fit.... Shell Bent?

Recommended Posts

my base model 205 is going through a bit of a makeover at the moment.

I bought a used fixed type upper strut brace. Its for a gti, and I have a tu3s engine with a weber carb... However this is irrelevant, as I don't have carb clearance issues. I have strut top issues, the strut brace will not line up with the strut top studs. Its as if the brace is too long, or worse, my shell is twisted?

what should I do? Try and push the inner arches apart to get the brace to fit? Or drill holes in the brace to fit the car?

is it just the outer studs? domed strut tops are very common which splays the studs out.

The instructions for the OMP non adjustable brace said to fit the brace you may need to jack up one side of the car, basically to bend the shell!

Take a measurement from somewhere left to right and i'll measure mine for comparison if you like.

you could be right wp. Anything I can do if they are domed? Or is it time for new strut tops?

Could be a 309 brace , I assume the longer wishbones are duplicated by more distance between the strut tops .

its not that far out, isn't the 309 noticeably wider? 50mm+?
