605 Turbo Engine Misfiring

Recommended Posts

Slo

This engine is in my cti and Its been doing this since last summer and getting right on my moobs. When its cold it runs spot on but as soon as it warms up its missing under full throttle/load, if i drive miss daisy it doesnt miss a beat.

If I hold down the throttle in neutral it bangs and pops like a rally car does, it also does this on the motorway and is very annoying.

The only parts i've changed for known good working items are the fuel pump and ignition amp and its no different. I've also pulled out the fuel pressure regulator and it looked in good order.

I've also had it connected upto my pp2000 and the only thing it spotted was speed sensor intermittent open circuit so ive disconnected it permanently for the time being to rule out interference, made no difference at all.

Ive taken the plugs out and all seemed a tad on the white side of biscuit brown.

Also get the odd whiff of burnt oil but its not using any and last time I could smell it like this the turbo seals had well and truly gone but theres no smoke from the tail pipe at all unlike last time.

Anyone got any ideas what I should be looking at or for?

Have you tried a replacement coil? Those wasted spark units used on TU and late XU 8v's aren't the greatest in terms of reliability.

Bought one, its more annoying that it runs fine when its cold giving an impression that its temperature related like the ecu temperature sensor problems cause on the 1.6 and 1.9s

My gut feeling is its turbo related and its an absolute nightmare to get to/check/remove
