Smr Speedline Combination?

Recommended Posts

jackmorris

Ive recently bought a set of 1.6 gti alloys for basically pennies to fit on my xe someday, however on recieving them ive discovered 2 are speedline and 2 are smr. having weighed them i can barely see much difference, and question is would they be fine as long as i keep them matched across an axle? Or is it advisable to track down another 2 speedlines/smr?

Yep, as far as functionality is concerned they're as good as identical. Same dimensions, offsets and weights. They'll be fine.

I'd check the offset, there is the odd ABS 1.6 rim kicking around but you would have to be unlucky to get one of those

Be careful fitting SMR wheels to a 205 with 1.9 front hubs and brakes the calipers are a slightly bit bigger and catch the wheels

shouldnt be a problem, its a base model with a 1.6 gti brake setup that currently squeezes under 13s so I guessed it wouldnt be an issue! :)
