Personal opinion is that a 1.6 should have 1.6 wheels on. Everyone raves about the 1.6 being nimble and revvy, part of this is the offset of the 1.6 wheels.

I will add however that I hate how they look, the 1.9 wheels suit the 205 far better, but they also look stupid on a 1.6 due to the wide front track and narrow rear.

My 1.6 has refurbished 1.6 Speedline wheels on it.

The car handles so much nicer with 1.6 wheels in my opinion.

Stick with 1.6 wheels but make sure they are refurbed properly (with diamond cut centres)

I have a 1.9 cti, which had the 1.6 speedlines, hated the look of them. Bought some refurbed 1.9 speedlines, looks 100% better in my opinion. With regards to performance cant say I have noticed much difference but being slightly wider and a lower profile tyre would expect it to be better if only marginally. Its all about personal opinion, do what you like the look of.

1.9s are the daddy, definitely. But I really like the 1.6 alloys in some cases too. Think it was Andy C's old black one that was slightly lowered and it just looked right. On standard ride height and the light paint colours I'm not so keen.

Course, you do have the issue of finding somewhere that can balance them. And am I right in thinki it can be a bit of an arse to find decent 14" tyres these days?

I was lucky - I got a set of pretty tidy 1.6 wheels when I first bought the black car. Made it a bit of a sleeper too.

I prefer how the 1.9 wheels look if I'm honest but agree 1.6 wheels on a 1.6 car etc.
