Intermittent Ohhhh Like Sound

Got a intermittent "ohhhh like sound", it will ohh for a bit then quiet then ohhhh..... a bit whiny / creaky but certainly not wheel bearing type drone its mainly provocable just after your hard on the power you can feel it slightly through the steering as a slight vibration as if something isn't spinning quite as freely as it should be.

Iv'e had a feel and one of the cv gaitors has oil on it looks to be old oil everywhere....

I think I can mange to change a cv gaitor but how will I know if the driveshaft is knackered as well? I think its a bit over my head to change that so would probably just take it to garage.

Unfortunately it does not do camp Kenneth Williams impressions and continue with an "Ohhh Matron" but maybe this will develop?

Joint will feel loose and 'limp' if worn, which may explain the vague campness!

coincidentally my gearbox/nearside driveshaft is making an ohhhhhh noise too after approx 30 mins of driving scared the hell out of me when i went to wales in it 400 mile round trip but it made it there and back with the ohhhhhhhhh

anyway it turned out the grease had gone hard in the driveshaft and just needed repacking... haven't had the problem since.
