Which Driveshafts?

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I'd appreciate a bit of advice if anyone can help!

I have a 205 with base model 309 hubs & carriers, a BE3 gearbox from a 306 Dturbo and next on my list are driveshafts, but every person I ask seems to have a different opinion...

Some have said 1.6 GTi shafts are a straight fit, some say the short shaft needs a 306 inner CV and some say 306 shafts are a straight fit...

Can someone please help?

306 shafts certainly won't fit as they'll be far too long.

If you keep the 306 diff, you'll need a 306 inner CV though. If you use a 205 diff, you can use a standard 205 'shaft without messing around with the inner CV.

Which base model 309 did the hubs come from, as base model diesel hubs need 1.9 'shafts whereas (I think) base model TU use the smaller 1.6/base model splines and thus you'd need 205 1.6 / diesel shafts?

OK, that helps a bit, thanks for that.

No idea what model they came from, I guess the only way to find out is to measure the size of the hole in the hub and find dimensions for both.
