Power Steering

My 1992 1.9 GTi has failed its M.O.T today on the power steering ...does anybody know where I can get my rack reconditioned, i presume on an exchange basis ?

I would have thought any motor factor worth it's salt would be able to supply you with an exchange recon rack with 12 months warranty.

If you get stuck I can do one on exchange, Not the cheapest but everything is changed and even if Rod ends are supplied as having had some recon racks in the past not all the arm etc are changed

Thanks Miles ......the garage where it failed the MOt has quoted £380 exchange one fitted ....is this reasonable for the unit cost and doing the job? ....I know it would be cheaper doing it myself , that wouldnt normally be a problem , its just balancing the cost against the little or no time I have to get it done at the moment .....it has been off the road for the winter and i want to get driving it again !!!!......what would you charge for an exchange ?

Say racks £165.00, tracking £25.00 and about a hr to fit £45.00 as they are dead simple to fit any more than a couple of hours is taking the **** but Autodata for as much use it is list 2.4 hours
