How To Tighten The Top Mounts Using Konis

Recommended Posts

feb
I've replaced the shocks in my Panda with Konis with the help of a friend but we've had trouble torquing up the top mount bolts.

The first time around we used an impact wrench and the second time we tried to stop the stanchion spinning by holding the hex part at the end of the thread with a spanner while doing up the nut.

The hex part didn't seem that strong and we didn't want to push it.

Does anyone know whether the hex part can be used to stop the stanchion from spinning as I don't want to break something.

The top mounts have been OK for a while but they have come loose now.

The moment you put a tiny bit of force on the top nut the whole rubber plate will start spinning.

Do I need any special tool in order to be able to hold the hex part of the stanchion while tightening the big nut?

Thanks guys!

S 6 sided socket on the shaft and a swan neck spanner on the lock nut.

Thanks Mei! What about torquing them up or doesn't it matter so much?
