Replacing Wing Mirror Scumbag Kicked Off

Any tips / technique for changing these, I need all the help I can get!

I've got as far as step 1. sourcing said item.

Remove cover inside, carefully as the clips are likely to be brittle. You may need to reattach them with some sort of adhesive if the majority break.

 

Undo mirror fixing points whilst holding remnants of old mirror.

 

Put screws somewhere safe.

 

Hold up new mirror to door and attach with screws.

 

You'll be 'reet.

Easy as pie but as stated them clips are 20-30yr old French plastic so do break easily

My plastic trim already had 2 of the 3 clips broken so I cleaned the area with alcohol waited for it to dry then attached it with 3m double sided tape, all was well till this morning with a bit of condensation has made adhesive fail.

 

Whats the best product to use, obviously I don't want to use mega strength stuff in case I need to replace mirror again.
