Subframe Problems

Recommended Posts

DC2T

Got a few issues with my subframe, basically i need everything to mount it the the body but as i dont have parts that came off, i dont know exactly what i need to buy. The only parts i do have are some solid mounts that attach to the chassis legs. The subframe is from a 1.9 GTI and its going onto a 1.1 Style if it makes any difference.

So, are these all the parts id need to order to fit it?

Next problem, I went out to trial fit my subframe yesterday only to find that only one side will screw in from the points at the rear. Both captive nuts on the same side seem to have disappeared

So, what do i do to solve this dilemma?

have you lifted the carpet?

you need part #4 for the front mountings.

The captive nuts you've lost are actually part 3, as above lift the carpet and it will all make sense.

The double captive nut/bar thing is just held in with some small tabs so you'll probably find it somewhere nearby once you have the carpet up.

I also dont think the xsara mounts are sitting correctly, when bolted up flush the rear part seems to be at an angle. It maybe correct but as i have nothing to compare it to it looks wrong. Ill bolt the rear up first then see how much clearance is between the arm and the body
