Jenvey Problems

I have a really tiny annoying problem i cant solve..

 

researching on my problem, i came across someone else with the same problem but didn't have any answers.

 

I have purchased the pq2 lever and fitted it but the lever on the other set of bodies that joins to this one is too short, how do i get around this? or do i get the welder out and try my best to 'poshly' weld it longer.

When ever I have fitted jenveys I've always had to cut it to length. They are generally long for varying applications. I'd speak to Jenvey about it.

Definitely dont weld it! you'd never get the bodies balanced!

 

how much shaft is protruding? if you shift both levers to the end of the shafts you might get enough.

 

mine was nowhere near as long as the one pictured above on the red bodies.

the original lever that came with the bodies to run one of them big linkages was long like the one shown in jacks picture, but now ive had to remove that to fit the pq2 lever witch doesn't have the length required.

 

I cant go right to the end of the shaft as the spring will fall off.

 

I'm not using that type of linkage Jack, the PQ2 lever doesn't come with that much length on it

apologies John I never noticed your post on there from the start of the year. I thought I was the only person to have this issue. I ended up extending the one the levers, can't say whether it will work or not when it comes to balancing them but hey ho.

 

will get a picture up as soon as i can

I moved my Jenveys from a Longmans/Jenvey manifold to a Satchell one and while they were slightly further apart it was only a mm or two and the linkage still worked fine.

extending the lever wont be an issue but dont weld them together :lol:

cant extend the lever without welding it, its a new satchell inlet and new jenvery 45s, just changed to a pq2 lever

I meant don't weld the two bodies together, welding a bit onto the end of one lever will suffice.

Are yours a different model of bodies Mei?

 

I have them black bodies the same as Geoff and as his pic suggests the two banks of bodies seem further apart weather they are slimmer/lighter i don't know


That looks a bloody good mod there Geoff, ill probably do the same sort of thing,


Actually, i do have the old lever that has a longer bit on it i may cut that off and see what i can do with it

Mine are 91mm long "TH" I think most run 118mm long "TB" though.

 

They are identical bar the length of the body, I think all the extra length is at the front so better suited to using Pico length injectors with a flat backplate, you can run the full length injectors with a stepped backplate on mine.

 

 

edit, just looked up on the Jenvey PDF's, the bolt pattern and bore centreline is identical, but the spindle overall length is shown at begin 6mm longer, no idea where that 6mm comes from though.

Just got a reply from Jenvey about the PQ2 lever, apparently there's a LH and RH version.

 

I'm running an EW engine in a 205, any ideas which variant I need?

Hmm, strange! This is the reply I got.....

 

Good morning Tim,

The levers are not listed on the web site, which side lever operation do you need?, LH or RH, these are priced at £29.20.

thats a bit expensive!

 

myself and dcc just ordered the bodies and requested the direct pull lever not the linkage type, turned up and bolted straight on, made a cable stop bracket, sandy adjusted the lever to allow proper W.O.T.
