Tachometer Mods For Turbo

Recommended Posts

CHRISWB

Hi

I have built my turbo 205, I can't get my tachometer working I have had a rear throught posts about the mod and also about a wiring kit that someone sells on here.

Does anyone know where I can get the wiring for the Rev counter mod?

Thanks Chris

yep, it is that simple, just tap into the trigger wires by the ecu, add an earth, connect to the tacho wire, job done, I've got loads of the diodes etc here as they came in large quantities when I made a few

That would be great if you could do that. How much would you want for it?

Alternatively, modify the tacho so that it works off the native ECU tacho output on the loom:

Clicky

That's how I do it as that's the "proper" way to do it in my opinion, but either method will work.

That mod as per Anthonys link doesn't work reliably in my experience, I have tried it a couple of times and it didn't work.

The way that does work every time I have done it (4 times) is the rev counter driver available from Emerald.

I agree about the Emerald drivers being the best method but they are bloody expensive for what they are. I've often thought about getting a batch made up by someone I know because I could sell them for about 50% of Emeralds price!

I tried it on a spare tacho and it didnt work either must have done it wrong or maybe i did it right or maybe it doesnt work on certain types who knows

Dunno, it's worked fine on every one I've tried it on - all "Veglia" manufactured Phase 1.5 and 2 GTi units.

Same for me, modded my rev counter for both a Megajolt install and a GTI6 install and worked fine :)

Does anyone on here sell the wiring I need? I don't want to do the mod on the back of the Rev counter.
