Haha what would i do without it.. God imagine it did go.. I was half saved for a DC2, but pumped it back into the 205..

For sure, im going to respray these ones when i get a chance, 2 of them are white underneath! I ran out of white paint!

What a difference 9 days can make, eh?

And already 3 grand richer for it!! Didnt lose a penny on the forged engine. Still to sell loads of good parts

This beast managed 8:25 btg on my 15th lap of the ring, not bad. Feel like I've seen it all with this 205, bigger and better things await.

Big thread resurrection!!

I just bought the XL back after stripping for parts 2.5 years ago.

So it's now finally got the right engine.. 2.1 gti-6, cams are cat but unknown.. Jenvey 48s etc.

I am at the moment buying a lot of parts. I've budgeted a 4K spend to get it back up to scratch, I've come back here with a lot more confidence and skill in building! Wiring loom is being made from scratch, both ecu and accessories.

Cage needs strengthening, mainly for aesthetics I must admit. Lots of tarty bits etc!

I am getting the geometry dialled in at bridgecraft :).

Here's the start of it.. from viewing to taking it back home, to its home again!.

Cheers mate!

Have the time and ability now to actually leave it in the garage!! the first time around it was always driving as it was my daily!! It hasn't been driven ever since I stripped it to a bare shell. Hopefully we will see it north of 200 bhp!

Been buying lots of fibreglass and some engine bay parts from Tony Palfrey today/ Maxi motorsport. She's going on a strict diet and I am going to really make the finish on the car epic this time! Last job will be getting it resprayed in maroon and grey inside

Great read and some nice vids.

'North of 200' on the new engine is an understatement, unless you mean ATW; that's quite achievable.

Sandy got 202 ATW from my 2.2 Mi, and I'm lead to believe the GTI6 head is a tad better. It's certainly safer from an oil POV.

Your driving and this will be quite a weapon.

Cheers mate. Hopefully.. Have confirmed it is a pug1off engine! Seen the pistons etc inside.. Luckily all looks clean and fresh, hasn't been run in yet!

Not actually sure what cams it has, but are Cat cams of some description.

Some more bits added and some work done to start the project!

Maxi motorsport has sorted me a lot of good bits. On order I have the fg bonnet and tail with carbon inner layer for rigidity.

Plastic fantastic grey lexan windows.

Gripper LSD

Satchel inlet

I have also sourced a low mileage VTS box

Some C5 wheels

Pug crimps for the Rebel loom

I am on the look out for:

Ph1 dash, just the upper section

Any geo parts and good advice!

Torsion bars and arb 24mm and 25mm respectively.

Yeap so did I! So many bits missing and work that needed done to the original shell I actually bought another donor car. It will end up more like before, just much much better roll cage, better power and safer!

Its another 205 XL, 26000 miles and 1 owner! Nice and tidy shell.

Haha no way! you beat me to it on eBay was also bidding on that car!

That’s the kind of car I’m looking for to try do a small 8v build like your first car.

Will be keeping an eye on this build, should be good if it’s anything like the first!
