Poorly Considered Drag Challenge?

After some facebook bragging I've challenged my brother to a drag race at the aerodrome. He has a mint 1989 Beemer E30 325i.

 

I'm almost certain it's bog standard, no surprises or tweaks lurking, but it is in very good nick. I have Mi16 with fast road cam on the inlet, and a 1.6FD into a 1.9 box. I think it could breathe a little better but I won't have time to pick an exhaust...!

 

The more I think about it, he'll be a dot in the mirror. Opinions?

An E30 325 is very close to a 1.9 8v 205 GTI so an Mi16 should be considerably faster.

I think the gearbox will have me up to 70 or 80 in not time and it'll be too late after that. I only get around 115mph with that gearbox combo but it's worth it.

 

I'm back to being keen again...

The mi16 in my 306 used to easily beat 325's and that was with an S16 gearbox, so with a 1.6 box and in a 205 it should be a walk over.

im sure you will be ok,less weight to drag off the line and similar power,the only place he's got you is with the torque i guess his is a fair bit more than yours but you've got short ratio's and his are going to be pretty long so in a sprint should go your way.Go get him
