Rear Pad Recommendations

Recommended Posts

2052006

It seems Halfords have stopped selling Ferodo Premier pads, which used to be very cheap on trade and recommended on here for rear caliper use. Any other recommendations?

I bought some Halfords own branded ones for about 6 quid, but not sure if they'll be up to much. Any experience with these?

Standard. If you can't get standard, get OEM.

Never tried Hellfrauds pads on the rear, but I did buy a 205 that had just had a set fitted on the front once.

First thing I did when I got home from picking it up was to remove them and launch them into the bin despite being as new - they were that bad. Wooden, no bite, and when I attempted a few hard stops to see if I could bed them in, they were fading on the 2nd stop

Again, I've not tried them on the rear, but the Pagid pads that ECP / CP4L sell work well on the front of a road car and I don't see why they wouldn't work equally well on the back - certainly I've never got close to fading them, they have plenty of bite hot and cold, and don't seem particularly dusty.

Anyone experience with Greenstuff rear pads?

I think I have Hitec pads at the rear, but have the feeling it could use a bit more bite at the back (, having uprated brakes at the front).

Sounds like the time I tried EBC Greenstuff

See above. Anything from Mintex 1144 1155 or Ferodo DS2500 DS3000 is a safe bet.

Try neat auto's, I got genuine peugeot rear pads for about £20, they work very well in my ZX.

The last thing you want is a pad with lots of bite on the rear of a 205. The front has to do all the work. I run mine at 99% front & 1% rear.

Ah, had missed them. That's what I've got currently, so will probably go with them again as I have no complaints.

I'm running gti6 calipers with DS2500 pads front, single 1.6 set up to rear, but with compensator removed - seems to be ok like this, at least with the current, worn Ferodo Premiers on the back. Not experienced any rear lock-up yet, though only done about 600 odd miles with this set-up.

I will return the Hellfrauds pads!

You can get OE rear's off EBay for around £10.00, got a few sets that way, Clio, Meganes, R5T, 206, 306, Xsara's all use the same rear end so loads around, Renualt version is fine too,
