Fuel Gauge Sender Removal

i have a late 1.9,and wont to remove the sender unit, located it no problems but how do you get it out looks like a black retaining ring<does it unscrew, i dont wont to try forcing it any one help

unscrews yes might be a tad stiff though

Careful as all you will probably do is bust bits off! Try a strap wrench carefully?

When I did mine I tapped around carefully with a screwdriver and hammer, it just unscrews
