Thats a shame, decent products and decent company to deal with when I have in the past.

Well this has given me a dilemma, I was about to buy a DTA S40 this very week as I am supercharging my mazda mx5. Question is do I still go ahead and buy one?

I was going to buy it from the guy who is going to map it, and it is his preferred system, and he has a box of them so he'll still have them for sale, but should I buy one or go for a competitor now?

Thoughts anyone?

Well there's no doubt they're an excellent bit of kit but if the ecu packs up then you're up s*it creek much like how I was when my e48 died :( By the sounds of it people are trying to rescue dta but it's still early days.

its unlikely an S series ecu will give much trouble at all, the E48 was pretty good in its day but well out of production now.

I'd still use one (I will be, I bought my ecu 4 years ago and only getting the car mapped next week!)

Just bought an S60 and I'm not bothered.

Someone will take it on I'm sure.

Well it didn't hold me back, I now possess an S40, expensive Friday!

Mapping provisionally booked in for 3rd week in May so I now have an incentive to get it working.

The only problems I've ever had with DTA boxes, having used them extensively for over a decade; have been voltage spiking through alternator problems. If you ensure that the alternator is used correctly (not over-speed, shielded from extreme heat, correct wiring); then the DTA should be totally reliable.

Thanks Sandy, that's good to know. Not planning on changing the alternator from it's standard setup so should be ok.
