Hi Everyone,

My pug has developed a fault which is getting worse as time goes on and I could really do with some pointers.

1) Started the car one day and noticed the battery light remained on, gave the car a rev out it went started/finished journey no problem.

2) This did not happen everytime but over the weeks became more and more frequent.

3) Several more weeks the light would not go out and in fact had to drive of down the road before it would go out.

4) Several weeks later the above still occurs but also every time I brake the radio cuts out.

5) Several weeks later the heater lights don't work, dashboard lights very dim, windscreen wipers very very slow and heater fan is very slow.

6) The other day all above was happening, pulled up to a set of lights, indicated to go left and the indicator was flashing quickly as if a bulb had blown, I turned the heater off Boooom a sudden surge of energy, battery light went out, indicators back to normal speed, windscreenwipers normal speed, radio stopped cutting out, all dashboard lights as bright as the sun.

7) At this point I am thinking faulty alternator/battery ?

8) last time out when all the above happened I was at a set of lights again, I thought I will turn of the heater, Nothing everything remained the same so I turned the hearter blower back on to heklp prevent some misting, I then whilst idling heard the revs drop as it had warmed up and booooom normal electrical power restored.

This fault only happens when running from cold, it seems to take longer to warm up (I know it is now very cold hence why) once it has warmed up and the revs drop from 1300-1500 revs back to 850-900 I get all the power back.

So when it is running cold what is taking away all my power ?????

Alternator and/or wiring to it faulty. I would also check the main earths to/from battery/engine/body.
