205 On Classic Car Show

Recommended Posts

Reebmit

Watching Quinten Wilson's Classic Car Show tonight and 2 cars were on his classics to watch, Mercedes C

osworth and 205 GTi. He was very complementary about 205's!

Bit OTT on price saying one recently went for 15k, but positive

I saw that, not sure why he felt the need to make up the 0-60? 6.9 seconds is about what a 205 Mi16 can do.

I saw this. Bit optimistic! Plus I find his body language and mannerism annoying haha.

Jodie Kidd though....

Ha ha yeah I know what you mean Ash, I also find Jodie awkward but that's acceptable! Lol.... she can do anything she wants ;)

Strange its not on catch up Nveeate, there wasn't much on there really only a minute or so discussing future classics on the up...

Not watched this, but think I'd have to do so with the sound turned down. Have never liked Quentin, and frankly amazed that he's still getting TV time given his awful screen presence. Bloody 80's yuppie throwback.

Yeah Quentin is a tit, he reminds me of Dracula or sumet, I said to my dad he was a bit optimistic with his prices. Was a pretty poor show tbh and I hate mg midgets

If you ignore the slightly painful presenting and greater fool theory optimistic look at classic car prices (they've gone up so they must keep going up) it's not a bad show. Better than not having it on TV.

I was hoping for a proper feature on a 205, instead it's just Quentin doing his word Spooks style computer screen thing on values

I was pretty surprised by the 0 to 60 claim too. He seemed to be talking proper low mileage prices.

Sounds like he made a bomb on his E type though. Man certainly has a decent collection of cars it seems.

And there is definitely something about Jodie Kidd that makes the heart skip!

Yeah Miles that would be interesting! Simon, he would have but he spent a fortune on a nut and bolt rebuild with top specialist so that would have been a chunk of cash!

Will keep an eye on Top Gear if they have a feature, cheers for he heads up Rich.....

Should be a couple of 205s on tonight's Top Gear as it shows the history of Peugeot.

My 306 Rallye should make an appearance hopefully.

My Miami Blue 309 GTI made a brief appearance just after that rather nice white 306 Rallye . God knows what they were doing with the 407 and CC on the road , they should have done a proper comparison test while they had all those great cars .

James Mays face was a perfect impression of those people who slow to a stop at clear roundabouts and don't know what engine size their car is, a cross off bemused and scared.

The classic pugs were great, that red 205 looked great on the country roads

I think the red 1.6 is Adrian Butt's car.

Was another good show. The 307/407 feature was bloody funny but ran out of puff - I was expecting them to round off with the 208 GTi as it seems to be pretty good.

Yeah. Even to have a 208 there, and ask the question - is this a sign that Peugeot are back on track with their sporty offerings, would have sufficed considering they were attempting to show some history of the marque.

It does seem extraordinary that they would tell the past history and current stature of a manufacturer only to not really do the current part at all (208 Gti 30th & RCZ R).

I did think that they were quite accurate with the last 10 years models as most of them were dreary, up until the above cars came out. Very funny.

I agree, I expected to see something about the 208, especially as they have just facelifted it and made the 30th anniversary spec a standard model ('GTi by Peugeot Sport') but it was typically inaccurate in many ways, eg. Peugeot haven't done well making bad cars, they have just made a tiny profit again after losing money for years, they lost over 1 billion in 2013 and 5 billion in 2012.

This months Evo magazine rate the 208 GTi 30th higher than the current Fiesta ST, which is good to see. Also a brief test of the new 308 GT which they also like. Just have to see if the 308 R now makes an appearance and can knock the Golf GTi / Megane / Focus ST off their pedestals :-)
