60nm

Back off

20nm

+300degrees

Ensure all threads are lubricated with engine oil

I always do the 300deg in three stages, all of them 90deg, all another 90deg, then all 120deg

Make sure lots of engine oil between the spacers and the bolts as well or they will bind and stop you reaching 300 degrees. I found 300 degrees is a long way and you feel you are going to break something so anything to stop things binding is a big help.

Check the bolts 2 or 3 times for the 60/20Nm in the prescribed order.

If you have done the last bolt to 60Nm in the first round, the first bolt will be back at 50Nm or so, since the head has clamped more to the block.

no need to do that, that's why the tightening order should be followed.

worth cleaning the threads out by running a bolt through them a few times with some oil too
